A fantastic find.

The former Pembroke Rest Home, ideally configured for our purposes.

After an extensive search for the right venue to house vulnerable families, TLC’s Executive Committee Search Team was delighted to discover the abandoned Pembroke Rest Home, which we knew instantly would suit our purposes perfectly.

28 Parson’s Road property

Set back from the road with two entrances, the building sits on a generously sized piece of land with ample room for play areas, fruit trees and the opportunity to develop a community garden. Located right across from the Pembroke Playground and walking distance from primary, middle and senior schools, the 28 Parson’s Road property answers all of our needs.

The building itself, having formerly been a rest home, is already ideally configured for our purposes, with an industrial-sized kitchen, generous living and dining areas, a central courtyard and bedrooms large enough for a parent and up to three children.

The facility offers the following amenities and freedoms:

Centrally located, near major bus routes (it was felt that either extreme end of the Island would make it more difficult for work opportunities for guests

A sustainable building that could accommodate at least 9 families and would not require substantial renovations

A building that would come at a reasonable cost to rent, either from Government or some other entity

Nearby recreational space for children to play

Sufficient area around the building for children to play safely

The capacity to secure the site to protect some of the more vulnerable families from dangerous individuals
